Fourth Week of the Food Drive

Homework, anyone?

1.  Your literature log assignment is due on Friday.

2.  Your story and your zine should be done by Friday. (These are for first and third period classes).

Thursday notes:  I think my hearing might be coming back, after our raucous party.  Thanks to our awesome room parents for helping us with games, food, and megafun. Today in first period, we learned about Ida B. Wells-Barnett, a woman who believed that the pen was mightier than the sword.  In second period, we had a fascinating chat about literacy and what “good reading” looks like.  Third period is almost done with their stories!  Anyone remember what our G vocab word was?  See you tomorrow, peeps.

Wednesday notes: Today in first and second period classes, we talked about Stopping by the Woods on a Snowy Evening by Robert Frost.  We worked on zines today and stories. Second period got quite a lot of lit. log time.  Hope those are coming along well.  I had a good day today being  your teacher.  Tomorrow, we will celebrate winter.  Yay!

Tuesday notes:  The zines and stories are coming along famously.  In second period we were surprised to learn that 2 of our plays were winners in the mini-play festival competition.  Congrats, K.H., J.L., and C.H.!  Do you think you would want to be in Sounds of South some day?  How are the lit. logs coming along????

Monday notes:  The second graders gave a great performance for us today.  I think we have Sounds of South tomorrow.  In first period we read Ida B and got our new lit. logs.  In second period, we read about the YHBA criteria and we also read an article about declining reading scores. We also read Silent to the Bone. In third period we worked on our stories and our new lit. logs too.  We also read Al Capone Does My Shirts.  I like that book a lot. How do you like the read aloud books right now?  What’s your lit. book?

Snow, please.
