Summer Begins…

Thursday, May 31st, 2007

I had one of the best teaching years of my life this year.  Thanks to all of you for being such terrific kiddos.  I want to hear how you’re spending the first few summer days. And I better not hear one WORD about boredom!  Today’s field day was quite fun, imho.  Happy Summer!

I'll be writing every day. I HOPE!

Final Four???

Wednesday, May 23rd, 2007

Well, we’re down to our final four days.  I’m really proud of your writing projects.  How many of you are doing book clubs because you finished early?   Reading anything exciting?  In second and third period, we worked on “I used to…but now…” poems.  I’m pleased with how they are turning out.  First period will catch up tomorrow.  Tomorrow’s Thursday so we’ll have a fairly regular day, I think.  We’ll have to make sure everything’s in our portfolios.  We’ll bring them home on Friday.  (I think so anyway).

Dress nicely for our 6'er celebration!

A Very Pleasant Monday

Monday, May 14th, 2007

Today we had a great day.  First period worked on their stories.  And we took a book talk outside.  We talked about Crow Boy, one of my all time favorite books.  Second period peeps worked on their zany zines.  And third period talked about James Frey’s memoir.  We sat in a circle outside in the shade.  What a beautiful day.  Remember that your Lifeskills culmination ceremony is Wednesday morning.

The Birds

Wednesday, May 2nd, 2007

I saw 3 excellent birds at my feeder this week:  the rufous sided towhee, the indigo bunting…and my all time favorite, the rose breasted grosbeak!  Do you have a birdfeeder???

They're migrating through!
