Homework this week: WORK ON YOUR SEPTEMBER READING LOG!

Thursday News:  Today the fourth graders finished up ISTEP.  The third graders have one more test and we’ll take that on Monday.  We talked about Tomas and the Library Lady.  We had a wonderful DEAR time and we had a good literature group for Secret Soldier.  I liked the video we watched about the Potawatomi.  They have a sad history, but they’re still here to tell the tale!  Hooray, tomorrow’s Friday!

Wednesday News: More ISTEP’ing today. Everyone’s hanging in there and working hard. I’m very proud of

the kiddos in 201. We also read about the Little Rock Nine in our weekly Time for Kids.  How has ISTEP been going for you?

Monday News: Today we had a great literature discussion about Music of Dolphins with the fourth graders. I can’t wait to meet with the other groups later in the week. We also talked in small groups about Tomas and the Library Lady. I love that book. We tried to listen to a radio show about a new version of This Land Is Your Land, but our computer wouldn’t let us. WAH! :(

What did you check out from the library today?

Third graders took a math test today and fourth graders worked on some math review.

We've had some great talks about this book!

Week of Sept. 10

Tuesday News:  We had a substitue in 201 today.  I’m sure everything ran very smoothly, correct???

I was in a meeting with other teachers.  We looked

over some of the writing samples from 201.  Teachers were very impressed with your planning and your writing.  Well done!  Finally, some cooler weather, I’m so happy!

I HEART this book.

Week of Sept. 4

Tuesday, September 4th, 2007

Greetings all!

Homework:  201′ers got homework in their red folders today.  A new reading calendar should stay at home during the month.

Thursday news: Fourth graders took a math test today.  Third graders will take one next week.  Today third grade math students worked on money by pretending we were buying school supplies.  Today the whole class took a practice writing test.  We wrote for 30 minutes straight.  Everyone worked hard and got the job done.  Third graders wrote about “A Special Visitor” and the fourth graders wrote about “A Funny Story.” In the afternoon, we helped out the first graders today with their writing.  We also finished reading a great picture book called Mr. George Baker.  What did you think of that book, 201′ers???

Wednesday news:  Today is writer’s Wednesday, so we went out into the Fairview garden and wrote in our notebooks.  We also read a great book called Mr. George Baker today.  Our portfolios are coming together.  Is your poem partner piece done?? :)

Tuesday news:  We worked hard on our “dig” field trip stories.  Share some of your details, please! We also talked about great things about our school.  What are things you all would want people to know about your school???
