Week of August 25
Monday, August 25th, 2008Monday notes:
We got a lot done today. We learned about r blends and wrote down our spelling words. We also revised our poem partner pieces. We are making a class book with these. We learned about onomonopoeia and worked on our Young Hoosier Book Award reviews. We finished an awesome short chapter book called The Most Beautiful Place In the World. We also read a terrific picture book called Virgie Goes to School With Us Boys. In the afternoon, we filled out “What’s My Rule?” charts in math class. We reviewed fact families and played Top It. Ms. Lewis visited and talked about Second Steps. It was a busy, but productive, day. Great job, 306′ers!
Tuesday Notes: We started podcasting today with Ms. Montgomery. We are writing scripts about Crow Boy. We did some dictionary work in our spirals. We talked and wrote about the important ideas in the book about Virgie. At math time, we started working on word stories and reviewed “What’s My Rule?” problems, fact family problems and place value.
Wednesday Notes
Today was another busy day. We learned a new song at morning meeting. We kept working on our scripts and we wrote outside in our secret writing spot. We reviewed our spelling words and worked on our YHBA projects. At math, we kept working on word problems and ended our day with some handwriting practice. Yay for us!
Thursday Notes
Our podcasting scripts were finished today. We are so impressed with the writing everyone is doing during writer’s workshop. Yay! We visited the book fair in the afternoon. We are studying word problems in math. We ended the day with some spelling review and DEAR time! We were hopping today in 306!
