Monday Notes: Greetings, 306′ers! Today we welcomed Will to our class. He will be our new teaching assistant for third grade. Will is an education student at IU. We focused on our literature logs today, making sure our work was “neat and complete” on each page. In math we learned about PERIMETER and AREA. Ms. Lewis came and talked to us about LISTENING to one another. Thanks to everyone who has commented on our podcasts!!!!

We are doing great in 306!

Wednesday Notes: Reader’s Workshop was fantastic today. Everyone was reading and writing away! In math we used calculators to work on AREA problems. We put on some quiet music after math and wrote in our notebooks. The room was quiet and peaceful. Well done, 306!

Thursday: What a day!  We started out our day with Music and Art and then practiced our podcast scripts to ourselves and to our classmates for the recording tomorrow.  We then had school pictures taken and went to recess and lunch.  After lunch we had Math where we learned about circumference and diameter.  We ended the day practicing our spelling words for our test tomorrow and Power Groups!!  What a busy and productive day!

Ms. Lewis came by for Second Steps.  We talked about ways to share your thoughts with others.  A happy Monday!

Tuesday Notes:  We listened to our Virgie podcast today and read all the compliments and comments people have sent our way.  Then we worked hard on finishing up a few writing projects.  In the afternoon, we reviewed for our math test.  The Matthew Jackson literature group met and began reading their new book.  At recess, we got to see a dead copperhead snake!  Thanks, Mrs. Fleser!

Week of Sept. 2

Tuesday, September 2nd, 2008

Tuesday Notes:  It was hard to get back in the swing of things after our awesome 3 day weekend, but we did it!  We listened to our FIRST podcast on the computer and we started working on our next scripts.  After lunch, we worked on addition in math class.  We ended our day with power groups.  It’s great to see everyone back in gear in 306!

Wednesday Notes:  Today was action packed.  After art and gym, we worked on our new scripts about Virgie.  We made great progress and everyone had something to share at the end of the writing time.   During math, we worked on subtraction with regrouping.  We got so much done.  Super job, 306′ers!

Thursday Notes:  Another busy but wonderful day.  After art and music, we worked on our writing.  The scripts are absolutely fantastic and we may be able to record our second podcast tomorrow.  Before math started, a praying mantis visited our classroom.  She was very friendly.  We learned about adding with 3 addends in math.  We had a long reading time this afternoon.  We learned about INFERENCES, read with our partners, and listened to the rest of the book about Issa, the haiku poet.  Phew!

We'll be voting for the YHBA!
