Dear Room 306,
This is another amazing podcast! I am so proud of your hard work. It is important that you are teaching others about these boarding schools and from the expression in your voices, I can tell you are passionate about sharing the unfair things that happened there. Keep up the awesome work! – Mrs. Montgomery
Dear Room 306,
This is Mrs. Montgomery’s husband, Zak. I was just listening to your podcast and wanted to tell you that I had heard about Jim Thorpe as an athlete, but didn’t know that he was a Native American and attended one of these schools. Thanks for teaching us about his life and the challenges he overcame.
Sounds good guys. You told a good story. I’ll definitely read those books.
What a wonderful podcast! I’ve read these books, but your discussions, and especially your dramas, brought some new thoughts to my mind.
I’m wondering why Jim Thorpe did not want to go to the boarding school, but was willing to go to another school.
And I wonder if all the teachers were mean, or if they were forced to follow government rules, and felt badly about what they had to do to the children.
Thanks for an enlightening podcast.
DM/
What a cool podcast!
I think kids should be treated fairly too. Thanks for sharing these stories with me, I look forward to reading the books.
Great job 306! That was a great podcast. Thank you for helping me better understand these books. You did a very nice job describing some of the poor conditions that Jim Thorpe and others were faced with. Keep up the good work!
Hi Gang,
I was blown away by your podcast. I can’t believe how much better they are now compared to when you first started. You sound like pros!
What I liked very much were the dramatic scripts, the book talks, and descriptions of your ideas and experiences. I learned much more about Jim Thorpe and the boarding schools than I had known before.
You can be really proud of this one.
See you soon.
Your friend,
Mitzi
Hi guys!!
I loved this podcast because I think it is important for us to know about what people have had to face and deal with throughout history. It is hard for me to imagine what could be so painful emotionally and physically that would make me want to run away and risk the chance of getting caught and beaten. You did a great job retelling important parts of these stories and it has made me do a lot of thinking about the choices we are now given as people compared to long ago. In our classroom we often talk about the many choices we have today and see where more people are being treated fairly, but we still have a long way to go.
The littles enjoyed hearing you share about these stories with this podcast and they especially like hearing their reading buddy’s voice and name being announced. You mean a lot to them!! Thanks for being such good role models for them.
Mrs. Van der Schans
Hi Reading Buddies!
We loved hearing your voices tell the stories about these Native American Indians. We do not think children should be taken away from their parents when the parents are just teaching their kids about their tradtions and culture. Why should those kids be taken away to learn about someone else’s culture and live their way, when they were fine the way they were with their parents. We didn’t like the way they were made to do something they did not want to do.
We hope this does not ever happen again.
Great job!!
Love,
Your Reading Buddies
Dear Room 306,
What a great reading of those stories. You really helped me understand how many freedoms we have today in America. I hope we can all keep on learning to appreciate and understand each other.
Thank you so much!
Mrs. Reardon
I just love your podcasts 306ers! The stories you tell about are new to me and make me put them on my book list to check out. Do you like making podcasts? I can tell that you feel strongly about the stories. I think you are C.O.O.L. and you rock! Thanks!
Hey 306!
I think this is our best podcast yet! I really like all the expressions, and I agree that you guys sound like pros.
Hi 306,
I’m Ms. H.’s husband.
I learned a lot. And I thought the presentations were powerful.
Good job!
Hi Kids,
Thanks for the great podcast! I did not know about the books, and now I want to read them so I can learn even more. It must be fun to make a podcast. I have never done that. Good work! We look forward to hearing your next podcast!
Hi,
I am in third grade in San Francisco. I liked your podcast. I did not know about those books but I want to read them now. Do you call your teacher Ms. H or Ms. Heffernan? My teachers names are Ms. McClain and Ms. Kitsuda. I have never done a podcast.
You guys have so much information in this podcast that I listened to it twice! This is a part of history that not a lot of people know about. I’m glad you chose these books to read and study. I’ve been to several powwows in Oklahoma with my older brother. They were fun and the food was great.
Your podcast pals should be getting together this week and I’ll post their comments.
Judy Williams
Hi, 306! This podcast was your best yet, I thought! Each podcast sounds more professional than the last.
I thought the dramas time were especially compelling, and it sounds like you guys learned a lot of history from this trio of books.
I was also really happy to hear that you’re a big family at your school.
Keep up the good work!
KC West from Minnesota. I’m 30.
Wow. You should all be very proud of this podcast. I learned more about this important history through your retelling of the stories and through your dramatic scripts. Keep up this important work! I look forward to the next one.
Jessie Dockter (also from Minnesota)
Dear Room 306,
Congratulations on making such a powerful podcast! You worked very hard, and now you must be proud of your work! I especially enjoyed listening as I lived in the Tohatchi, New Mexico Boarding School with the Navajo children in 1982. Things are very different now, thank goodness! Unfortunately though, not many Navajo children are speaking the Navajo language there anymore. I would love to read the books that you shared. Will you be coming to Tri-North in 7th grade? We all will be proud to have such fine, hard working students!
Dear Room 306…I LOVED the podcast. I am so amazed at all the work you have done on this podcast. I learned a lot by listening to all of you. This podcast has really made me curious about the book and the situations that Native Americans endured. I also enjoyed the music!
Thank you,
Mrs. Bodnar
Awesome podcast 306! You all have some great incites in to these books. You’ve all worked really hard on this, and have learned a lot! Thanks for teaching others what you have learned!
You kids did a great job. It made me really angry at the teachers who treated the native americans badly, and the people who forced them to go to those schools. Cool musical interludes.
What a great idea to make a podcast! Keep up the good work. It made me want to read these books.
Hey Room 306 Pod-casters,
This is my first time to listen to one of your pod-casts. Mrs Bodnar sent the link on to me so I could listen today. Great job. I learned much new information and got some great ideas from you to use with my fifth graders. Thanks for being so inspiring.
Keep up the good work.
Mrs. Stockwell
Dear Room 306,
I was very impressed with your podcast. I could tell how much you have learned about the students and schools that Jim Thorpe described. I could also tell you feel strongly that children should be treated fairly. We can all work together to be sure unfair situations like this are not repeated. I am very proud of your work.
I just listened to my first podcast–yours! I am truly impressed by how smooth and professional you sound. I am working on becoming more up to date on computer skills at my job at the Monroe County Public Library and listening to a podcast was one of my assignments. I think that our library could use the podcast to promote new books or review books and movies for our patrons.
Dear 306,
Great podcast! I really think that it was a great addition adding the music. All the kids did a great job putting their opinions on the books.
We learned that not all schools are the same and not all teachers care as much as others.
HI ROOM 306 THAT WAS THE GRATEST PODCAST T HAVE EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE ALL I KNOW IS THAT I LOVE THE PODCAST.

Hi Room 306!
I just listened to your podcast and it was so amazing! I was very sad to hear about how the Natvie American families were treated, but it is an important part of our history and we need to learn about it. I’m going to let my class listen to your podcast tomorrow.
Great Job!

We thought your podcast was awesome and loved listening to it. We can’t wait to listen to your next one.
Here are some thoughts and questions:
How long did it take you to research and put it together?
Which one was harder, this one or the Ballot Box Battle?
Were there any white people or African Americans that felt the Native Americans shouldn’t have to go to boarding schools?
Why did the government do such a thing?
Sincerely,
Catherine, Mackenzie, Betsy, Ben, A.J., and Davis
Hi Everybody!
Thanks for so many comments!
We liked your comments that you left us.
Professor Menosky, Some of us think the teachers did feel bad and that they were forced to teach that way. But some of us say that the teachers did not feel bad because they were mean.
Podcast Pals,
It took us between 3 and 4 weeks to read the books and do the writing.
This podcast was harder than Ballot Box Battle because we did more books this time.
There might have been people who did not like the boarding schools, but they were not mentioned in the 3 books we read.
We think the government did this because when you take culture away from kids, the culture disappears. The government wanted the land from the Native Americans, so they wanted their culture to disappear.
Thanks again everyone,
Ms. H. and 306

Room 306-
I just listened to your podcast and I’m sorry I waited so long! It was such an interesting start to my day. I didn’t know very much about this issue, and your podcast will help so many people like me learn about a really important part of our history.
I liked how you taught us in different ways- some of you had skits, some of you had personal connections, and some of you told us more about the books. What a terrific job you did! I can’t wait until the next podcast!
See you later,
Rosalyn.
Ethan Hi room 306 i like the podcast rock on.
rock on room 306.
Wow! You guys sound like professionals! I was impressed with how well you articulated the words and how you were all able to speak a the same level or volume, so I could understand everything very easily and not have to adjust my volume up and down. Your great presentation prevented me from focusing on the recording and helped me to focus on the story you were telling. Your voices were also very enthusiastic and confident and this made me want to hear more. The pace was upbeat and I liked the music transitions, they faded in and out perfectly. I think it would be even better to add some background sound effects, like drums or Native American music. Although that would not be easy!
I also liked that you included information on Native American’s in Bloomington. I would love to hear you do an interview with someone to learn more about the culture and history.
Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts!
Cobi, IU Telecom Student
I enjoyed the beginning of the audio. It really lighted up the mood. The transition from person to person could’ve been better. I believe you should have paused a second or two. On the other hand, I enjoyed the transitions from story to story amongst the students. Sometimes the audio sounded a little muffled. The microphone must’ve been too close to the students or they were speaking too loudly. I enjoyed the enthusiasm of the children when they acted as a character in the story. I believe this group of third graders and teacher did well on the podcast. It made me interested in reading the book and interested in the life of a Native America and their struggle during the times they were forced to go to boarding school.
I am very impressed with your knowledge of how the Native Americans were treated. Use this point in history as an example not to discriminate against other cultures. Let people be what they are, and don’t try and change them. You sound like you can sympathize with what they were going through. I also love the funky music! The transitions between the music and you guys was very smooth. Keep up the good work!
-Mike Stone

Great job 306! This is very informative. Your skits will help many people have a better understanding of the way things used to be. You all spoke very loud and clear. I am sure your teacher is proud. Keep up the good work! -Amanda
Great podcast!
I learned a lot about the Carlisle School and the Indian boarding schools. I really enjoyed the part about Jim Thorpe, he was a great athlete. I had forgotten that he was a Native American until your podcast reminded me. I learned a lot about the terrible conditions in the boarding schools and how they took away from the culture of the Native Americans. The content was great! I also liked the music you used for the transitions between speakers, it added a lot to the podcast. You can tell you worked hard at this, you had to read three books then write out what you were going to include in the podcast, keep up the good work. Good job everyone.
Hi Room 306,
Thank you for sharing such a great podcast! It’s sad to think that so many children’s lives were negatively affected by Carlisle. Aren’t we lucky to live during an era where we have more choices and opportunities in our education?
By using scripts and enactments, your information was easily communicated. I’m also glad you that you featured music to break up the dialogue during the podcast. Have you ever thought about using sound effects? It might be fun to come up with creative ways of making different noises!
Thanks again, 306, and keep up the great work!
I found this podcast very interesting because I had never known about Native Americans being forced into boarding school and I only knew very little about Thorpe. The podcast was good at using narration and music to move the story forward and it was a good job for a group of elementary school kids.
Dear Room 306,
It is a really special way of telling a history, and you did a GREAT JOB. I listened it twice because I don’t want to miss any information. The contents are interesting enough and without telling us too much information. It makes me curious and want to know more about the part of the history. The kids did a really good job too, and the skits are really cute. The only minor flaw is the microphone being placed too close to the kids sometimes, with caused the audio sounded a little muffled. If there is a background music, this problem might not that obvious.
Dear Room 306,
I thought this podcast was great! I thought the kids did a great job with the scripts and skits they wrote.I never knew anything about the Indian Boarding Schools until listening to this podcast and now i know a great deal of interesting information about it.It is really unfortunate that the Native Americans had to go through the boarding school problem. The music in the begging and end of the podcast as well as a couple of times throughout the podcast was great too, it help in assisting in transitions to other new stories and really kept me interested in all that the kids had to say.Maybe next time incorporating more music as well as a variety might be nice too.Overall great job!
Dear Room 306,
First of all I would like to say GREAT JOB! I was so impressed with your podcast and can tell that all of you worked extremely hard to put together such an awesome piece! I really loved the music you chose for transitions-it helped to keep the podcast upbeat and attention-grabbing. Also, it is very clear that you guys know what you are talking about! Your knowledge on this subject was very impressive. The scripts that you wrote and performed really helped further tell the story of all of the adversities faced by the Native Americans and their children. You guys made me want to go out and read these books too! Thanks for such great listening material and keep up the AMAZING work!
- Michelle (IU Telecomm. Student)
Dear Room 306,
your podcast was good. The sound mix in the beginning made me feel that it was going to be a more upbeat happy story but ended up being more serious. so maybe a more serious type of song could have been used. The content was good with the scripts that you made and just the narration of what you were going to act out. it was a good idea breaking up the different parts of the story with the music. Sound effects during the story could have made it interesting too.
Great podcast room 306. I learned a lot about the Native Americans. I also thought it was especially interesting that the Native Americans were given new names. I did not know that. You guys all delivered your words with great enthusiasm, which made the podcast very fun to listen to. The music in between parts was a nice transition for the listener. I do not know if it is possible with the equipment you guys are using, but maybe you could change the settings on your microphone to stereo, so your voices will come out of both headphones and not just the left. Other than that, I thought this was a wonderful and interesting podcast. Keep up the good work!
Jay Kinney- T206
Amazing podcast room 306! I think that recording a podcast is a great and innovative way to relay important and previously unknown information. I was unaware of the Native American boarding schools but listening to your podcast instantly changed that. Not only am I aware of the boarding schools now but I also know the details of how they worked based on the script that was written and the dialogue spoken. The content was not generalized too much, but it also did not go too far in depth and fall off track. The technological aspects were also done well. I am sure you were working with limited equipment and you did an unbelievable job with what you had. My only advice is to extend the distance of the microphones from yourselves as someone had already mentioned, but at the same time the subtle audio flaws make it more personal, as I think sounding too professional would make the podcast less entertaining. GREAT JOB!
Dear Room 306;
Wow! What a great podcast! I thought all the information you all gave was extremely interesting! I can’t believe that the children were forced from their parents and taken to a boarding school where they were treated like prisoners. Sounds like a horrible life to me! The music at the beginning and end was a really nice touch, but maybe you could have chosen a sound mix that had to do more with Native American heritage? Also, in between each speaker the music could add a really nice touch by fading in then out more than just out. You all did a really nice touch with the scripts! I could easily pay attention the whole time! Nice job room 306 keep up the awesome work!
Great job guys! I really enjoyed listening and learning about Native Americans experiences at boarding schools. I think your class did a great job in portraying all the information from the books you read to your audience! I enjoyed getting to hear from each of you and learning about the Native Americans in a first person manner when some of you acted as if you were a student at one of the boarding schools. The sound effects at the beginning, middle, and end of the podcast were great. You guys also did a great job in maintaining a consistent tone and rhythm during the entire podcast! Good job guys!

Dear Room 306,
Your podcast was very good! I think you guysa and girls did a very good job reading the scripts. I had know idea that Native Americans went through so much adversity while at these Indian Boarding schools. I also had know idea that the former NFL football player, Jim Thorpe was a Native American. The music that was used for transitions between each speaker was very upbeat. I thaught it added some excitement to the podcast. I found this podcast very enjoyable and Im sure each and everyone of you worked very hard on the scripts and skits in order to make this podcast possible. Thanks kids and keep up the outstanding work.
Dear Students,
Great job on the reading. Keep up the good work. Thanks for sharing the story with us. I learned a lot about the experiences of the students and could tell in the sound of your voices that you were eager to share and learned a lot as well. The sound mix of the podcast was done well with keeping the transitions from kid to kid flowing.
–Ashley W.
Room 306,
Wow! You guys are great! Your skits and explanation of the books you read were delivered perfectly. I liked the music at the beginning and end of the podcast, as well as the variations used for transitions inbetween your stories. I thought it was very well put together, and the only minor change I would add would be to incorporate more sound effects while talking. The podcast was very informative, and I learned a lot about the Native American culture that I didn’t know before listening. Great job!
Hello Room 306,
I really liked your podcast. It brought light to a topic that is not widely know. I was not taught this in school and I am glad your teacher has given you the chance to learn a crucial part of history. This podcast reminded me of when I was in Elementary School and I used to watch the Reading Rainbow on PBS. You all sounded very well and I liked the little commercial sounds in between your information and skits. Keep up the good work!
Dear. Room306
I liked the podcast that I could learn about the interesting information. But I think the sound mix was not perfect that you are too close to the mic, so sound echoed much. The content is very persuasive. Good job!
Dear Room 306,
You guys did a really good job in creating this podcast! I really enjoyed learning about the Indian Boarding Schools although it saddened me to hear how awful the students were treated during that time. I also thought it was really neat that the kids acted out conversations in order to provide a more realistic effect to the podcast. The musical interludes were pleasing and I felt that all of the kids spoke in a loud and clear manner which made them easily understandable. Great job once again and keep up the good work!
(p.s. Please ignore my last post because I clicked “Submit” on accident before I was finished typing)
Dear Room 306,
I thought you all did a great job with the podcast. Not only did the kids draw me in with the interesting information about Native Americans and boarding schools but the audio also sounded very clear and professional aside for a few moments of muffled speech which sometimes comes with being too close to the microphone. I also enjoyed the music that was spliced into the the stories that gave the listener smooth transitions to the other stories as well as a small break to process the information from each story. I never made anything like this when I was your age so this is very inspirational. Overall you guys were awesome!
Dear room 306
I just come in here for homework from school, but I was really shocked with this podcast. In fact, I’m an international student and never study about native american history, but it was really informative and fun stuff in my opinion. On the other side, I was little confused about the situation that I didn’t know. However, this podcast was really good stuff, I like to music among the scenes. It helped me to know changing scenes. Moreover, I feel that it was well-maiden professional radio drama. In addition, I like playing of children. Sometimes, I had some questions like actors and actresses understood meaning that they were saying, but they were so cute and playing well. I appreciate your job and children’s job. This is very cool. – Jaewon Eum (Dante)
-T206
and I missed something about this podcast. It was unpleasnat that Native American go to the boarding school for me. I cannot understand why they are considered differently even they are same citizens under the U.S. Anyway, I got much information from here. Thanks.
Hey class!
It sounds like you put in a lot of work into this, and I can really tell. It sounds so professional. I especially enjoyed how the information was presented in the first-person, as if you were the real person from history! And good use of the music byte to bring us, transition, and send us out. Great job!
Dear Room 306,
I thought the podcast was great. In terms of content, I learned a lot and got a really good idea of what the boarding schools were like for the Native Americans. I thought the script was well written and I really liked that it included skits, opinions, and some backstory.
In terms of the actual sound mix, I really liked the score at the beginning and the music that often served as transitions between thoughts. I think that some background music would be a nice addition to the soundtrack and would set the tone for various parts of the podcasts.
Great job students!
Hey Room 306!
Sounds like you guys took a lot of time to put this podcast together. I liked how much information I gathered about Native Americans in a relatively short amount of time. The way you put the music in your transitions made your podcast very attention-grabbing. I also very much enjoyed the way the students acted out the conversations of different characters, it made the podcast very interesting.
Again great job class, I very much enjoyed listening to your work.
Hi class!
You guys did a really good job on this. Your hard work shows with the finished product. I really liked your transitions between all of the people talking. The older voices also gave a clue to when the story would take a different turn. The music added a smooth and constructive segway into another part of the story. The story was fantastic too. I learned about a topic that is not widely known, and the skits and conversations created helped in understanding the treatment that Indian cultures were under. The sound only faltered slightly when there were muffled voices, but the microphone sounded very professionally done without many background noises. I wish I could have done something this cool when I was school! Congrats on your podcast!
Dear Room 306,
Hey guys! I really liked your introduction music and also liked how you guys used music clips to separate different sections. However I was a little confused as to how each part connected except when some of you guys said why you wrote what you did before you said the story. Good examples would be the section about the parents who were forced to send their children away and the section when Jim was talking to his teacher at school and trying to run away. Otherwise i thought it was really good and very creative. Way to go guys!!

Room 306,
I think this is the great potcast. Kids did great job on their reading. I learned a lot of experience and information from this. However, the sound was not that bad but their breath was making the audiences feel uncomfortable. On the other side, they can feel friendly. I think sound of their breath is only one problem. Good job.
Hey class,
you did an incredible job on this assignment. the finished product was very impressive.i enjoyed how you boys and girls read off things and acted them out in skits as well. it was very refreshing hearing that you were educated on history and how native americans were forced to leave there homes and attend boarding schools. i enjoyed the transitioning of voices switching from one group of you kids to another so that everyone could participate. the music at the begginning and end added character to your story and skits. there were a little muffled voices in some of your changes from people which faltered the sound a bit. The overall piece with no interuptions of sound in the background gave it a professional touch. it was a great podcast congratulations Room 306!
Dear Room 306,
Great job on the podcast! i thought you guys did a very nice job! I liked how everyone did their own little review, and you did it very well. I liked how the music let the listener know when it was a new student. You guys did GREAT good job!
Class 306,
Excellent job on the podcast! The story was great and easy to follow. You told it like true professionals. It was great how you incorporated both narration and dialogue to make the story stronger. I also loved the musical transitions between segments during the show. I certainly learned something new from your presentation, thank you for putting this out on the web!
Dear Room 306
Magnificent job students! After listening to the podcast, I know that the entire class must have worked very hard to produce this content. The transition music that was chosen worked perfectly, allowing the listeners to easily differentiate the beggining, middle, and end of the podcast. I really enjoyed hearing you guys explain some of the hardships and struggles that the Native Americans have had to face. It’s great that you guys are learning about some American history and the different cultures that have influenced it. I hope the whole class recognizes that this podcast has been an awsome opportunity for you guys to understand, and get envolved with the media world at a very early age. Again, amazing job! Keep up the good work.
Awesome job kids! You all did a great job on this podcast. This is a part of history that I don’t know much about and since you have all helped in sharing the story with me, I want to do a little independent research of my own just to see exactly what it was like during this time in our history. As far as the audio for this piece goes, I like the way the kids got into their parts during the skits. However, the microphone that was used seemed a little too close to the children at times. The first time I listened to this, I couldn’t understand what the children were saying mostly because there was no pause in between lines. Another thing I liked about this podcast was the use of music in transitions. This allows the listener to have a few seconds to absorb all of the information that was just told. If you do another podcast in the future, the only thing I think that would make it any better is to watch the microphone distance and maybe pause between lines.

Room 306,
First off, it’s great to see you producing an audio podcast at such a young age… I wish I could have done such a thing when i was in middle school. Anyways, here is my review of the podcast.
The editing was done well, although i though it was a little excessive when each word was chopped individually. Some transitions were excellent (with the music), when others were confusing and lost the audience’s attention. Also, is there a reason the voices are panned to the left?
Overall, I thought the kids did a good job at introducing and sampling the books and issues. Although I was confused at times about what the speakers were talking about. I can tell you put a lot of work into this and it is impressive. Keep up the good work!!
I really liked how you mixed in the music in between segments to keep the podcast more exciting. I also enjoyed how you conveyed the emotions that someone would feel in some of these situations. I could not imagine being forced from home from my family. Keep up the good work!
Dear Room 306,
What a very detailed, accurate and knowledgeable podcast you guys presented! It was great! I liked all the information that was given about boarding schools and how it effected the Native Americans, it shows everyone put a lot of time into this podcast! I thought the script was written exceptionally well and each transition from one story to the next seemed smooth and most importantly, it made sense. I also liked how facts and opinions were both used to convey a message. I liked the opening and ending music you guys decided to use, it made the viewer want to pay attention. Also, the transition music between each skit was very attention grabbing. The only suggestion I have for you guys would be to add in some Native American music to the podcast so the viewers can get a better idea of what is trying to be said. Other than that awesome job you guys! Keep up the GREAT work!

Dear Room 306,
This podcast was great! The information was presented so well. I started remembering things that I had learned in my past elementary school days about Native Americans, but didn’t learn about the boarding schools and all the problems that went along with that. I also learned some things that I didn’t know about Jim Thorpe. It’s so great to see that kids in our younger generation are learning how to use these tools on the internet to better advance their education. I really enjoyed the music and transitions that they used. The only problem was with the microphone being to close to the mouths of the students, but overall great job!

one more thing, to get better sound quality try moving a little farther away from the mic, it made somewhat of an echo. Or just purchase a mic that eliminates echoing. BUT those instances were rare and it was a great overall podcast guys!
Room 306,
I enjoyed your podcast a lot. I liked the fact that everyone got to participate in a fun and unique way. It was cool to hear everyone reading and acting. You all did a great job!
I learned a lot from this podcast! I never knew about the native American children being forced into schools, and having their hair cut and their clothing burned.
I also thought the music transitions were a nice way to break up the podcast; they made nice divisions between sections. The sound quality seemed great overall (the music and the recorded voices), but perhaps next time you could pull the microphone back a little bit so we hear less ‘wind’ (especially when a ‘p’ sound is pronounced).
Of course, everything really did sound wonderful. I am very impressed with this podcast!
Nice work!

Hey all,
You guys did a great job on your podcast. It was very interesting to hear your stories about Jim Thorp and the Carlisle schools. I liked the way that you guys used the music to separate the different groups and how you all did a review of the books that you read. Your script reading skills were very impressive. The sound mix was interesting, the music combined with the student’s voices was definitely complementary to one another. The only constructive criticism that I can give is that there were times when the students were a little too close to the mic and it was hard to understand what they were saying. All in all, great job!
Hi Class,
I just wanted to congratulate you on a job well done! Your pod cast was very insightful, interesting, and moving. I enjoyed the storytelling elements that were introduced by different students, as well as the introduction and ending music which aided in the dramatic elements. I really enjoyed the story you guys had to share, and felt that it was very moving. I hope you all enjoyed creating such a different type of educational outlet, and that each cast gets better and better.
Class,
Congrats on a job well done! You’re storytelling abilities were quite impressive and moving. I enjoyed that each student was allowed to share a story and felt that the transition of voice to voice created a higher intensity for what those children had to endure. The only comment I have is I thought the music in the beginning and end was more positive than the story was, but I appreciate the ability to understand how to add a musical element. I hope that you all continue to post pod casts because it is an information and different way to learn and share what you have learned.
good job!
Nice work guys! You all did a great job. This was very informative. I really like how you guys used the music transitions throughout the podcast. Some of the recording sounds a tiny bit muffled but sometimes that happens with microphones! Keep up the great work!

Your Podcast was fantastic! It sounds as if you have put a lot of good work and time into this. It is very informative about the topic but also very creative as well, especially where you designed your own skits to illustrate the conflict that the Native Americans were experiencing. The use of the voices of many different students kept it exciting throughout. Also the transitions were aided by the older voices, helping to create an overall structure. The overall sound mix was well done other than a few students being slightly quieter than others. The music used worked well for the opening and for signifying transitions. I would only suggest that background music being played at times behind the students could have been a nice touch and added to the atmosphere. The only other critique I would have would be that the microphones may have been too close at times as I did hear that they picked up muffled breathing which was slightly distracting. Overall your class did a great job and your hard work paid off! I liked this very much and enjoyed being able to see how schools are incorporating newer technologies and media techniques in creative school assignments.
Dear Room 306,
In our class we learn that when telling a story content is “King”. As far as that goes your content was excellent. At all times I understood who we were talking about and actually learned a few things about the struggles of Native Americans in our country!!! Great Job!!!!
I do have one criticism in audio quality. I believe it was when (and excuse me if miss spell names) Christiana and Briana were doing a dialogue in unison. This created a weird feedback on my speakers and wast as aesthetically pleasing as one would like. What i would recommend doing in that scenario is creating a dialogue between them that would enhance the content as well as the sound quality. However GREAT JOB 306!
Good job guys! I thought that the music was a good choice, I was really interested in the way you incorporated it into your podcast. Also, the message you conveyed was expressed in a very clear and informative manner. Overall, excellent job!
That was extremely interesting! I wish I was able to do this when I was in grade school, spectacular job. I liked the sound in the introduction, caught my attention and was filled with energy. The topic was quite interesting and I enjoyed the re-enactment of the story! Keep up the great work!
