Wow! You guys sound like professionals! I was impressed with how well you articulated the words and how you were all able to speak a the same level or volume, so I could understand everything very easily and not have to adjust my volume up and down. Your great presentation prevented me from focusing on the recording and helped me to focus on the story you were telling. Your voices were also very enthusiastic and confident and this made me want to hear more. The pace was upbeat and I liked the music transitions, they faded in and out perfectly. I think it would be even better to add some background sound effects, like drums or Native American music. Although that would not be easy!
I also liked that you included information on Native American’s in Bloomington. I would love to hear you do an interview with someone to learn more about the culture and history.

I enjoyed the beginning of the audio. It really lighted up the mood. The transition from person to person could’ve been better. I believe you should have paused a second or two. On the other hand, I enjoyed the transitions from story to story amongst the students. Sometimes the audio sounded a little muffled. The microphone must’ve been too close to the students or they were speaking too loudly. I enjoyed the enthusiasm of the children when they acted as a character in the story. I believe this group of third graders and teacher did well on the podcast. It made me interested in reading the book and interested in the life of a Native America and their struggle during the times they were forced to go to boarding school.
I am very impressed with your knowledge of how the Native Americans were treated. Use this point in history as an example not to discriminate against other cultures. Let people be what they are, and don’t try and change them. You sound like you can sympathize with what they were going through. I also love the funky music! The transitions between the music and you guys was very smooth. Keep up the good work!

I learned a lot about the Carlisle School and the Indian boarding schools. I really enjoyed the part about Jim Thorpe, he was a great athlete. I had forgotten that he was a Native American until your podcast reminded me. I learned a lot about the terrible conditions in the boarding schools and how they took away from the culture of the Native Americans. The content was great! I also liked the music you used for the transitions between speakers, it added a lot to the podcast. You can tell you worked hard at this, you had to read three books then write out what you were going to include in the podcast, keep up the good work. Good job everyone.

By using scripts and enactments, your information was easily communicated. I’m also glad you that you featured music to break up the dialogue during the podcast. Have you ever thought about using sound effects? It might be fun to come up with creative ways of making different noises!

I found this podcast very interesting because I had never known about Native Americans being forced into boarding school and I only knew very little about Thorpe. The podcast was good at using narration and music to move the story forward and it was a good job for a group of elementary school kids.

It is a really special way of telling a history, and you did a GREAT JOB. I listened it twice because I don’t want to miss any information. The contents are interesting enough and without telling us too much information. It makes me curious and want to know more about the part of the history. The kids did a really good job too, and the skits are really cute. The only minor flaw is the microphone being placed too close to the kids sometimes, with caused the audio sounded a little muffled. If there is a background music, this problem might not that obvious.

I thought the kids did a great job with the scripts and skits they wrote.I never knew anything about the Indian Boarding Schools until listening to this podcast and now i know a great deal of interesting information about it.It is really unfortunate that the Native Americans had to go through the boarding school problem. The music in the begging and end of the podcast as well as a couple of times throughout the podcast was great too, it help in assisting in transitions to other new stories and really kept me interested in all that the kids had to say.Maybe next time incorporating more music as well as a variety might be nice too.Overall great job!

your podcast was good. The sound mix in the beginning made me feel that it was going to be a more upbeat happy story but ended up being more serious. so maybe a more serious type of song could have been used. The content was good with the scripts that you made and just the narration of what you were going to act out. it was a good idea breaking up the different parts of the story with the music. Sound effects during the story could have made it interesting too.
Great podcast room 306. I learned a lot about the Native Americans. I also thought it was especially interesting that the Native Americans were given new names. I did not know that. You guys all delivered your words with great enthusiasm, which made the podcast very fun to listen to. The music in between parts was a nice transition for the listener. I do not know if it is possible with the equipment you guys are using, but maybe you could change the settings on your microphone to stereo, so your voices will come out of both headphones and not just the left. Other than that, I thought this was a wonderful and interesting podcast. Keep up the good work!

Amazing podcast room 306! I think that recording a podcast is a great and innovative way to relay important and previously unknown information. I was unaware of the Native American boarding schools but listening to your podcast instantly changed that. Not only am I aware of the boarding schools now but I also know the details of how they worked based on the script that was written and the dialogue spoken. The content was not generalized too much, but it also did not go too far in depth and fall off track. The technological aspects were also done well. I am sure you were working with limited equipment and you did an unbelievable job with what you had. My only advice is to extend the distance of the microphones from yourselves as someone had already mentioned, but at the same time the subtle audio flaws make it more personal, as I think sounding too professional would make the podcast less entertaining. GREAT JOB!

Wow! What a great podcast! I thought all the information you all gave was extremely interesting! I can’t believe that the children were forced from their parents and taken to a boarding school where they were treated like prisoners. Sounds like a horrible life to me! The music at the beginning and end was a really nice touch, but maybe you could have chosen a sound mix that had to do more with Native American heritage? Also, in between each speaker the music could add a really nice touch by fading in then out more than just out. You all did a really nice touch with the scripts! I think your class did a great job in portraying all the information from the books you read to your audience! I enjoyed getting to hear from each of you and learning about the Native Americans in a first person manner when some of you acted as if you were a student at one of the boarding schools. I had know idea that Native Americans went through so much adversity while at these Indian Boarding schools. I also had know idea that the former NFL football player, Jim Thorpe was a Native American. The music that was used for transitions between each speaker was very upbeat. I thaught it added some excitement to the podcast. Wow! You guys are great! Your skits and explanation of the books you read were delivered perfectly. I liked the music at the beginning and end of the podcast, as well as the variations used for transitions inbetween your stories. I thought it was very well put together, and the only minor change I would add would be to incorporate more sound effects while talking. I was not taught this in school and I am glad your teacher has given you the chance to learn a crucial part of history. This podcast reminded me of when I was in Elementary School and I used to watch the Reading Rainbow on PBS. You guys did a really good job in creating this podcast! I really enjoyed learning about the Indian Boarding Schools although it saddened me to hear how awful the students were treated during that time. I also thought it was really neat that the kids acted out conversations in order to provide a more realistic effect to the podcast. The musical interludes were pleasing and I felt that all of the kids spoke in a loud and clear manner which made them easily understandable. Great job once again and keep up the good work!

I thought you all did a great job with the podcast. Not only did the kids draw me in with the interesting information about Native Americans and boarding schools but the audio also sounded very clear and professional aside for a few moments of muffled speech which sometimes comes with being too close to the microphone. I also enjoyed the music that was spliced into the the stories that gave the listener smooth transitions to the other stories as well as a small break to process the information from each story. I never made anything like this when I was your age so this is very inspirational. Overall you guys were awesome!

I just come in here for homework from school, but I was really shocked with this podcast. In fact, I’m an international student and never study about native american history, but it was really informative and fun stuff in my opinion. On the other side, I was little confused about the situation that I didn’t know. However, this podcast was really good stuff, I like to music among the scenes. It helped me to know changing scenes. Moreover, I feel that it was well-maiden professional radio drama. In addition, I like playing of children. Sometimes, I had some questions like actors and actresses understood meaning that they were saying, but they were so cute and playing well. I appreciate your job and children’s job. I thought the podcast was great. In terms of content, I learned a lot and got a really good idea of what the boarding schools were like for the Native Americans. I thought the script was well written and I really liked that it included skits, opinions, and some backstory.
In terms of the actual sound mix, I really liked the score at the beginning and the music that often served as transitions between thoughts. I think that some background music would be a nice addition to the soundtrack and would set the tone for various parts of the podcasts.

You guys did a really good job on this. Your hard work shows with the finished product. I really liked your transitions between all of the people talking. The older voices also gave a clue to when the story would take a different turn. The music added a smooth and constructive segway into another part of the story. The story was fantastic too. I learned about a topic that is not widely known, and the skits and conversations created helped in understanding the treatment that Indian cultures were under. The sound only faltered slightly when there were muffled voices, but the microphone sounded very professionally done without many background noises. I wish I could have done something this cool when I was school! Congrats on your podcast!

Hey guys! I really liked your introduction music and also liked how you guys used music clips to separate different sections. However I was a little confused as to how each part connected except when some of you guys said why you wrote what you did before you said the story. Good examples would be the section about the parents who were forced to send their children away and the section when Jim was talking to his teacher at school and trying to run away. Otherwise i thought it was really good and very creative. Way to go guys!!

I think this is the great potcast. Kids did great job on their reading. I learned a lot of experience and information from this. However, the sound was not that bad but their breath was making the audiences feel uncomfortable. On the other side, they can feel friendly. I think sound of their breath is only one problem. Awesome job kids! You all did a great job on this podcast. This is a part of history that I don’t know much about and since you have all helped in sharing the story with me, I want to do a little independent research of my own just to see exactly what it was like during this time in our history. As far as the audio for this piece goes, I like the way the kids got into their parts during the skits. However, the microphone that was used seemed a little too close to the children at times. The first time I listened to this, I couldn’t understand what the children were saying mostly because there was no pause in between lines. Another thing I liked about this podcast was the use of music in transitions. This allows the listener to have a few seconds to absorb all of the information that was just told. If you do another podcast in the future, the only thing I think that would make it any better is to watch the microphone distance and maybe pause between lines.

First off, it’s great to see you producing an audio podcast at such a young age… I wish I could have done such a thing when i was in middle school. Anyways, here is my review of the podcast.
The editing was done well, although i though it was a little excessive when each word was chopped individually. Some transitions were excellent (with the music), when others were confusing and lost the audience’s attention. Also, is there a reason the voices are panned to the left?
Overall, I thought the kids did a good job at introducing and sampling the books and issues. Although I was confused at times about what the speakers were talking about. I can tell you put a lot of work into this and it is impressive. Keep up the good work!!
I really liked how you mixed in the music in between segments to keep the podcast more exciting. I also enjoyed how you conveyed the emotions that someone would feel in some of these situations. I could not imagine being forced from home from my family. Keep up the good work!

I liked all the information that was given about boarding schools and how it effected the Native Americans, it shows everyone put a lot of time into this podcast! I thought the script was written exceptionally well and each transition from one story to the next seemed smooth and most importantly, it made sense. I also liked how facts and opinions were both used to convey a message. I liked the opening and ending music you guys decided to use, it made the viewer want to pay attention. Also, the transition music between each skit was very attention grabbing. I started remembering things that I had learned in my past elementary school days about Native Americans, but didn’t learn about the boarding schools and all the problems that went along with that. I also learned some things that I didn’t know about Jim Thorpe. It’s so great to see that kids in our younger generation are learning how to use these tools on the internet to better advance their education. I really enjoyed the music and transitions that they used. The only problem was with the microphone being to close to the mouths of the students, but overall great job!

one more thing, to get better sound quality try moving a little farther away from the mic, it made somewhat of an echo. Or just purchase a mic that eliminates echoing. BUT those instances were rare and it was a great overall podcast guys!

I learned a lot from this podcast! I never knew about the native American children being forced into schools, and having their hair cut and their clothing burned.
I also thought the music transitions were a nice way to break up the podcast; they made nice divisions between sections. The sound quality seemed great overall (the music and the recorded voices), but perhaps next time you could pull the microphone back a little bit so we hear less ‘wind’ (especially when a ‘p’ sound is pronounced).
Of course, everything really did sound wonderful. I am very impressed with this podcast!

You guys did a great job on your podcast. It was very interesting to hear your stories about Jim Thorp and the Carlisle schools. I liked the way that you guys used the music to separate the different groups and how you all did a review of the books that you read. Your script reading skills were very impressive. The sound mix was interesting, the music combined with the student’s voices was definitely complementary to one another. The only constructive criticism that I can give is that there were times when the students were a little too close to the mic and it was hard to understand what they were saying.
